Watashi wo Tabetai, Hitodenashi

The main character, Hinako, lost her family in an accident. Even though several years have passed, she still thinks she should have died with them, and that she wants to die. One day, she meets a girl named Shiori by the sea, who introduces herself as a mermaid. Mermaids are dangerous creatures and can eat people. Shiori says Hinako has a “special smell” and would like to eat her, but not now – when she’s a little older. In the meantime, she will protect her from other monsters (youkai). Over time, Hinako begins to suspect that her relationship with Shiori isn’t as simple as it seems.
